In 1963, only 18 sales (including
one commercial sale for $110,000) were recorded totaling $326,708
or an average of $19,218 per house. During that time, as business
boomed, the average house price in 1972 was increased to $24,000.
In 1982, $47,575 and 1992, $104,578 and more recently in 1998, only
six years later the average house price was $103,432, a little lower
because of a decrease in inflation. The tremendous increase in the
1980s was fueled by the high inflation rate of 13% followed
by a downturn in the 90s as inflation dropped to 3% resulting
in lower prices of homes. During those years, Sterling Realty was
responsible for the sale/development of the Dudley Shopping Center,
Drescher Motors/Gentex, Packard Mills, the K Mart shopping Center,
Commerce Buildings, plus the development of Blueberry Hill,
and Grandview Estates as well as other smaller developments too numerous
